Because resolutions are so 2017. And they never worked.

Truth: it’s not tech, it’s you.

1. Do the math, then mourn over your mindlessness loss of time

Start keeping track of your daily phone usage, we bet it’s phenomenal. You’ll freak out for a moment, look at yourself in the mirror with disbelief…blah, blah, blah…and finally get to the mourning stage (bye, time). That’s okay, you can regain control of your life again. Is it necessary? Maybe, maybe not. But awareness is kind of the first step to change.

(R.I.P. time)

2. Leave your phone at home, sometimes

A direct solution, because even you know that you can’t be trusted. You ask: Isn’t that irresponsible in some way? What if something urgent came up? You check your phone 24/7 but somehow you still manage to miss that one phone call from your mom. There’s that. Make offline plans—if you’re going for a swim, you don’t need it. It’s not the end of the world. Come back 2 hours later and the great Internet will still be here, we promise you.

OUT: glued to your phone

IN: tech-free diet

3. Hang out with people who make you forget to check your phone

Note: keep your phone in the bag, not on the table

Aren’t they the best? Live in the moment—indulge in the conversation, discuss life choices, make jokes, let the good times roll. Psychologists told us that when there’s a phone on the table, the participants feel less of a connection and the conversations felt superficial.

Life’s short, spend your time on things that matter. Despite all accusations speculations, YOU CAN DO THIS. You might (actually) enjoy being offline 🙂

Yea, we’re total hypocrites.
